Radiation Oncology

Aiming for Gentle Radiation Therapy for the Body and Mind

Radiation therapy is one of the treatments for malignant tumors, contributing to patient care alongside surgery and chemotherapy. When people think of radiation therapy, they might imagine it as scary, with many side effects, or as a treatment for those who cannot undergo surgery. However, in reality, it is a gentle treatment with the following characteristics:

  • Does not damage the body
  • Maintains the function and shape of the body
  • Causes relatively little damage to the body
  • Suitable for even older patients and those with other illnesses
  • Allows for outpatient treatment while continuing daily life

In our Radiation Oncology Department, we focus on both curative radiation therapy to radically treat cancer and palliative radiation therapy to alleviate the severe pain and symptoms of cancer. We prioritize prompt response for patients experiencing severe pain or urgent conditions.

Radiation therapy is carried out with the cooperation of multiple professions. Our team includes radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiologic technologists, nurses, and clerks, all working together, utilizing their specialized knowledge and skills to provide patient care. We also collaborate with physicians and medical staff from various departments to integrate radiation therapy with chemotherapy and surgery.

Shonan Kamakura General Hospital is equipped with the state-of-the-art radiation device. However, beyond our advanced equipment and technology, our entire staff is committed to delivering compassionate care, ensuring that patients and their families are fully satisfied with the treatment they receive at our hospital.
