Mission

Our hospital began performing kidney transplant surgery in 2012. With the successful outcomes of kidney transplant, the Kidney Transplant and Robotic Surgery Center was established in October 2022, aiming to pave the way for future multi-organ transplants. Our world-renowned transplant surgeons work in collaboration with renal transplant physicians to perform kidney transplants in the safest manner, even in challenging cases.

Highly qualified, multidisciplinary transplant team, comprising of surgeons, physicians, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, laboratory technicians and nutritionists, works closely to provide comprehensive, coordinated and patient-centered care to our patients. Additionally, we are committed to leading the world in clinical research aimed at developing innovative treatments to cure kidney failure.

Achievements

  • Our hospital has achieved excellent kidney transplant outcomes, with a 1-year survival rate of 95% and a 10-year survival rate of 90%.
  • Our exceptional expertise extends to managing challenging cases, including ABO-blood-type-incompatible living kidney transplantation, kidney transplant for highly sensitized recipients, multiple kidney transplants, transplants in patients with urinary tract diseases, and pediatric kidney transplant that may present challenges in vascular anastomoses.

Leading Expert

Dr. Kazunari Tanabe has devoted nearly four decades to advancing clinical and basic research in kidney transplantation since 1984, earning recognition as a global authority in the field. Throughout his illustrious career, he has performed close to 2,000 kidney transplants, including most experienced transplant surgeon of ABO-incompatible living kidney transplantation. Additionally, he pioneered the retroperitoneoscopic donor nephrectomy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure for donors.
