Research
From basic medical research to cutting-edge medical care
-A seamless approach-
Shonan Kamakura General Hospital was designated as a research institute by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on 12th May, 2015. Our hospital promotes the research and development of diagnostic and therapeutic methods by integrating each stage from basic research to translational and clinical research in the fields of regenerative medicine, intractable diseases including cancer, and radiation medicine.
To further advance medical care, the Shonan Research Institute of Innovative Medicine(sRIIM) was established in April 2021 within the Shonan Health Innovation Park (Shonan iPark), adjacent to our hospital. At this institute, we develop basic research directly linked to clinical practice and invite researchers from Shonan Kamakura General Hospital, as well as from Japan and abroad, to advance global collaborative research.
Based on the latest knowledge from basic research, our hospital’s Advanced Medical Center—comprising the Radiation Therapy Departments, Oncology Center, and Regenerative Medicine Center and the Preventive Medicine Center—conducts various clinical studies. Additionally, in our GMP-compliant cell culture and genome cell analysis room, we perform cell adjustments for various analyses and treatments.
